About Me
Hi, I am Sameera. I am a second year Computer Science major with a Specialization in Bioinformatics, and I am interested in places where computing, biology, and design meet. I care deeply about how technology can be used in thoughtful ways to improve health outcomes for real people rather than existing only as impressive theory or prototype work.
As a Global Changemaker Scholar I focus on Good Health and Well Being, which is the third Sustainable Development Goal. I am especially drawn to questions like who gets access to medical technology, why gaps in access persist, and how we can design tools that reduce those gaps instead of making them worse. A lot of my current work looks at affordable and portable approaches to health technology, such as pre hospital EEG for stroke triage and other forms of low cost monitoring.
I am also interested in the Grand Challenge area of health informatics. I enjoy thinking about how data driven tools can help clinicians without overwhelming them with extra alerts, extra clicks, or confusing interfaces. I like projects where I can combine analysis, interface design, and careful attention to user experience, especially for people working in high pressure environments like emergency care.
Outside of specific projects I enjoy building small systems that help people learn, organize, or explore ideas. This includes writing, interface experiments, and class assignments where I can try out new patterns for interaction. I tend to document what I learn along the way, which is part of why I created this blog. It is a place for in progress thinking rather than only finished work.
In the future I see myself working in medical device research or industry, ideally in spaces where there is close collaboration between engineers, clinicians, and communities who are most affected by health inequities. My hope is to contribute to tools that are not only technically strong but also sustainable, accessible, and respectful of the people who rely on them.
